Government Of Mexico

The WCCD is partnering with the Government of Mexico to conduct an innovative pilot program of the ISO 37120 city data standard with cities in Mexico.

The programme will see thirteen Mexican cities become ISO 37120 certified and join the WCCD network of global cities. The pilot cities include: Toluca, Durango, Cancun, Apodaca, Torreón, Guadalupe, General Escobedo, Veracruz, La Paz, Campeche, León, Querétaro and Xalapa. Participating cities have highlighted that this certification will allow them to optimise their policies and current practices, and improve their accountability.

The partnership was launched in Mexico City in December 2014, at a high-profile event convened by Mexican Senator Christina Diaz, Undersecretary of Housing and Urban Development Rodrigo Alejandro Nieto Enríquez, and Cesar Camacho Quiroz, President of Partido Revolucionario Institucional. The preliminary outcomes of the Mexico ISO 37120 pilot program will be highlighted at the International Forum on Innovation & Metropolitan Governance in Guadalajara in November 2015.
